This one has been on my radar for a while now, but I was always sketched out about the scrambling and the few "climbing" spots. I simply never felt ready for it. :scared: I let it simmer in the back of my brain last year and recently it started to surface again with the cooler weather. Things felt right, I felt ready to try it, and I'm interested in doing Superstition Ridgeline so I need to start familiarizing myself with the area.

I got separated from my partners soon after making it up the slick rock area. They kept going right after we entered the canyon and ended up going a completely different route that didn't end with the 10ft rock wall, but they claim it had plenty of other climbs along the way. I kept to the "official route." It sprinkled a little on the way up, making things a little slick. I realized just how sketchy this hike would become in a real rain shower.

I never ended up feeling uneasy or nervous on the way up or down, in fact I really enjoyed the scrambling and the few sections where you have to pull yourself up.

I met up with my two friends just before the top.

The views at the top were spectacular. However, clouds obscured anything at a distance.

We sat down and enjoyed the views for a while, then we explored around the area a little bit.

Coming back down my legs felt like they were turning to jello, and what's the best way to treat the wobbles? That's right, with another hike! We were all feeling pretty good and since we haven't been to Usery in a while, we decided to walk off the wobbles by finishing off the day with Pass Mountain Loop.

We grabbed some lunch and headed over to Usery.
