| partners | | Just celebrating getting older with some HAZers. I would definitely recommend celebrating your birthday with an older crowd, dulls the pain of getting older a little. This was my first trip up our state's fabled 12er this year, somehow I almost forgot how nice of a hike this is. Although, its really two hikes, the pleasant uncrowded Lockett Meadow to the saddle portion and then the crowded and cringe worthy at times final push to the summit.
We got an early start and hardly saw anyone on the the calm side of the mountain. The clouds looked a little threatening at times, but nothing materialized and it ended up being a nearly perfect day. As is usual the case, the trails were in great condition and the hiking pleasant. It appears this area has received some substantial rain over the summer. The trail though the Inner Basin has devolved into a mere ditch in spots, but travel is not impeded and there is easy walking in the grass along the edges of the washouts.
It was nice to see Linda and Chumley again. Thank you for the birthday dinner Chumley. Thanks for "driving" Linda. |
