About 2.5 miles with all the side trips that I can map out.
Parked near where people target practice.
Dropped over the canyon into a wash that pretty much made a straightforward way to the last cliff at the bottom. Crazy steep.
Animal trails made it really fast going.
I was pretty sure the caves were to the North so I explored the South some. Took advantage of the early cool and shade to explore.
Headed back and eventually found a narrow creepy part of the canyon that had 8-10 small caves. Some were big enough to stand up in. Lots of shade here.
Found the caves on the canyon wall that I saw Monday from a ridge to the West. Could get to two of the three.
Headed out of the canyon up a wash and cliffs and found another small cave.
Start 7:40
End 10:00
The drop in the the canyon is very steep and I had to pick my way down three sets of cliffs.
No bear tracks this time! |
