| no partners | | Since it snowed in the desert yesterday, I decided to do a repeat of a snowy desert hike from last year. Headed up Peralta, where I passed a few groups of hikers. Started seeing snow at about 1.30 miles. Just below the saddle, I ran into a good friend of mine who volunteers for Tonto NF, and chatted with him for a few minutes.
At the saddle, I headed up the use trail towards Robbers Roost. Snow covered most of the trail, and it was slick in places, but I mostly stayed on track. Quick stop at the Roost, then retraced my steps back to the saddle. I will say, the Salewa Mtn Trainers have excellent grip on wet rock; much better than my usual Salomons.
From there, I headed to the overlook, then down Cave Trail. All the rocks on Cave were dry, so it was easier than I was expecting. Finished up the loop on Bluff Springs trail.
Great day with the snow coating everything! |
