This area has many lakes and I hiked to six different lakes and named it Six Lakes Loop. I parked at the visitor center in Brighton and started from there. The first lake was Silver Lake which featured nice wooden walkway at the beginning. I also got to see a moose and her baby! The second lake was Twin Lakes Reservoir. That one was a good climb up with mountain peak backdrops. The third lake was Lake Mary which seemed to also serve as a reservoir. Very picturesque. The fourth lake was Lake Martha which was a short distance off the main trail. The fifth lake was Lake Catherine. I almost missed it because I followed the wrong trail sign. I quickly checked my map and jotted over to it. As I doubled back down the main trail I snapped a picture of Dog Lake from the top of the ridge which was the sixth lake. I passed by Lakes Martha and Mary and continued on to Dog Lake. It was surrounded by marsh so I couldn't get too close. I finished the loop back at the visitor center. Very nice hike with beautiful mountain views and peaks with the off-season ski lifts hanging in the air. I also used this trail to officially learn how to navigate with GPS since I wasn't using a designated route. I thoroughly enjoyed this hike because of the continuous sights and lakes along the way. I'll definitely do it again! |
