From the trail head, it's an easy two mile hike connecting to the Highline Trail, then I doubled back. It didn't feel like I was hiking around 10,000 feet and even did some jogging along the way. I also included the walk around Mirror Lake. I chose this hike because it had a lake named Bonnie Lake which is my mother-in-law's name and it was her birthday. It was my way of honoring her. The forest is still recovering from a past fire, but the views are still amazing with Bald Mountain and other peaks, plus all the small lakes littering the area. Absolutely beautiful! Mirror Lake itself was picturesque all the way around! I took so many pictures, it was hard to pick and choose for my photo set. I definitely want to do more hiking in the entire area. There is a $6 fee day fee, but it's good for 3 days. |
