The popular trail head has a nice parking lot next to a Wasatch Blvd. I've had this hike on my to-do list all year. I knew of its difficulty and was procrastinating. I decided to get it checked off my list while the weather was good. Boy, was I right! This was a super difficult trail with more than 3000 feet elevation gain in 3 miles! Climbing up was hard, but coming back down gave me a headache and back pain from the constant jarring. I started later than usual (11am) and only took one bottle of water. Stupid. If anything, I've learned to bring more than you need and be prepared. This lesson served me well on hike #49. Even exhausted, the stunning views were magnificent and the autumn colors astounding. |
