It was also next to Silver Lake Flat Reservoir; it was sad to see the water level so low. The trail was nice and well traveled with sporadic wild flowers. There were probably more earlier in the year, but I could see the signs of a hot, dry summer. Fortunately the lake showed no such signs! It was full and gorgeous! The surrounding cliffs and rocky mountains were spectacular! The reflections in the water were breathtaking!! We spent a good 30 minutes at the lake with my son playing/fishing in the water and me walking around looking for the perfect photo op!! As we got back to the parking lot, my son said, "I liked that hike!" That truly says something! We were bummed we didn't see any significant wildlife, but luckily we saw a deer as we were driving out of the canyon! |
