| no partners | | | There's a section of the Lost Dog Wash Trail that I hadn't hiked in about 15 years, as well as a while since I hiked the 136th St Spur Trail, so i put together this loop with a spur. The Scottsdale lots don't open until 6:44am this time of year, so I slept in a little and got there after 7. I parked at the overflow lot and started up the Sunrise Trail. Passed a few groups of hikers on the way up and decided to hit the peak. From there I headed down to the Lost Dog Wash and took that down to the first trail junction down by that trailhead there. Then I headed back up and hiked down the 136th St Spur Trail. 136th is mostly just following the wash, which gets a little bit tricky in a few spots with the waterfall dropoffs. Then it seems to go on longer that I remembered until it hits Via Linda. I thought the total mileage would be between 8 and 9 miles, but it ended up over 9, which didn't bother me at all. Nice to get a decent distance and AEG hike in. Weather stayed cool all morning, which was also a nice bonus. |
