Came up with Plan B since it was in the area, and seemed doable with the weather forecast. Lime Creek was a new one for me, so I was game. Someone else in the car was less enthusiastic, and seemed to only enjoy the first and last quarter-mile of the hike, all because of a big tree.
The rocks and catclaw on and along the trail are a little annoying. Everything else was good. Nice views. Sunny for part of the hike in, then clouds started to build. Found ways across all creek crossings that kept our feet dry. Saguaros and Cottonwoods twenty feet apart is always a treat.
A few sprinkles as we neared the cabin. We looked at the glyphs first, great panel, then had lunch at the cabin while sheltered from the rain. We donned rain jackets and headed back out. Most of the rain was during the big ascent. Tapered off to barely a sprinkle for the last mile, but the mud was sticking to our shoes. It’s hard to say what part of the hike Joe hated the most, there are so many possibilities. Still, a fun day, as always. |
