| no partners | | It was sprinkling lightly as I left the house first thing in the morning, so I went back in and grabbed a dry bag before heading to Pima Canyon. There was enough city light reflecting off the clouds that I could get by without a flashlight again this week when I started ~5AM. I passed a few people on Marcos de Niza, and it stayed fairly dark well into the hike with the overcast sky, and the clouds made for a muted sunrise as it continued to sprinkle on and off.
Along the segment between Hidden Valley Tunnel and Fat Man's Pass, two hikers up on the rocks waved me down and pointed out a rattlesnake between us. It was rattling but not coiled, and there was enough room that I could pass without getting too close. Over the last mile to Dobbins Lookout, the rain started to come down a little harder, but not enough to need the dry bag, and it trailed off again before I reached the lookout. It stayed cloudy most of the way back and kept it feeling a little cooler today. Finished around 8:30AM, and driving out along 48th Street, a coyote crossed the road in front of me. |
