I got to Pima Canyon Trailhead just after the gates opened around 5AM so I could avoid the extra road walking this week. It was a clear but hazy/smoky sunrise, and there were more bikers on the trails than expected, but not many hikers today. Another warm morning, but it felt a little less humid than the past few weeks.

I saw @trekkin_gecko and @johnlp on National Trail out past Buena Vista Lookout, and we said hi as we passed...nice to see you again! Not long after seeing them, I came across a snake in the trail. It looked like a kingsnake, dark with yellow rings. It was so motionless that I wasn't sure if it was alive, but it was gone when I passed on my way back, so apparently it was.

I took a quick water break at Dobbins and turned around...the rest of the hike was uneventful, and I was done ~8:30AM. Route Scout was a little generous with the distance today and added a tenth of a mile or two to the route compared to what it usually reads.
