| no partners | | This week was back to the summer normal of ~90° and humid as I got started pre-sunrise at ~5AM. The later sunrises are increasingly obvious these days, and I'm looking forward to the cooler mornings that'll eventually follow. The trails were relatively quiet, just a handful of hikers out and even fewer bikers over the course of the hike. I took a short water break at Dobbins Lookout but got moving again quickly since the bees seem to zero on an open water bottle in a matter of seconds.
I had two separate coyote sightings along National Trail, on the segment between Buena Vista Lookout and the Holbert intersection. The first one, which appeared to have just deposited a "gift" on the trail shortly before I arrived, seemed very comfortable with my presence and didn't make any effort to put more distance between us. I also caught a brief glimpse of a small snake that quickly slithered off the trail, but didn't get a good look at it. And back at the parking lot, I ran into TboneKathy...other than that, nothing too noteworthy. |
