Driving out Apache Trail it was amazing how many cars were pulled over taking pictures. We stopped for a few ourselves there and at First Water Rd. It was also amazing how many cars were going out to the lake, slowly!
Finally got to the marina and headed up the hill. Of course the sun had gone behind the clouds by then and we got some rain/sleet/snow once at the top of the hill. Boulder Canyon still looked awesome! Geronimo Head was mystically shrouded in clouds and we could see snow on Bluff Spring Mountain. We were hoping the sun would pop through again before the storm cloud coming over the lake rolled over us. Nope! No sun, just sleet/tiny hail. We would have liked to stay, but it was time to go!
It was raining pretty steady by the time we got back to the car. One good thing was that as much as my knee hurt yesterday coming down Hiero, it felt really good today, as in no intense pain just a few twinges! Then on the ride back we hit some crazy stuff on the 60. The road was completely white from hail and must have been an inch think in the middle of each lane! Luckily we were going west because the east side looked like a parking lot with flashing lights all over the place!
Just another day chillin' in the Supes! |
