:y: ***** Hot Dang but it's good to be back in Arizona ***** :y:

Slowly the seasonal relocation is winding down and now I can concentrate on getting out for another season of hiking. Needed a leg stretcher so I decided to do the Hieroglyphic Trail and check things out. The trails suffered badly from the monsoon season with minor washouts and lots of loose rocks to stumble on, even a couple of detours along the way.

Can't get over how green everything is, so much so that as you approach the entrance to the canyon, the brush is overgrowing the trail in places, but it looks so inviting and smells great. The pools are full and clear with a trickle of water flowing between them and it appears that lots of insects are making them home.

In some places the glyphs appear to be getting worn from rocks and gravel carried by the flash floods and sandblasted from the dust brought in by the haboobs. Then of course, the graffiti mongers continue to scratch their initials among the glyphs too [-X

The balancing rock still sits prominently high up on the East canyon wall so at least the storms or vandals haven't taken away the landmark. A fresh cool breeze whispered down through the canyon and because of my early start, I had the canyon all to myself :D

On the trail back, I came upon a pair of hikers heading into the canyon, the only other people I came upon during my morning hike.....perfect. Yesterday I signed up for another season of Volunteering with the Forest Service so I hope to see some familiar faces when I'm working the First Water an
d Peralta Trailheads.

BTW, fired up HAZtracks on the Galaxy S4, at trips end I had 75% batt left with only WiFi turned off. Started up instantly and Worked great :y:

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.
