| no partners | | | Oddly enough, I had never been done Maricopa Peak. I wanted to get that done before the heat keeps me away until fall, so I found a willing partner to join me for today. We met at the triangle lot at 9:00 and got started. He seemed relieved when I said I was still feeling blah and that I'd go slower today. From Alta, we headed up to Maricopa Pk from the eastern side. Definitely the more rugged side, but I don't think we were following the "trail" closely enough. I was wanting to stay high, he was wanting to stay lower and more north than I thought we should be. Finally, I just climbed up a rocky ledge and basically forced him to follow me. we got to the top quickly after that. Looked around a bit, then headed back down to Alta on the western side. Much easier. We headed east on Alta and back down. Looked around the Max Delta mine for a little while until it was time for me to get my kids from school. Nice day, only saw three other people. Hot though! And the gnats were all over me today, too many to even bother with swatting away. |
