Met Larry this morning to hike over on his side of town. Started a little after 9:00 to perfect weather. Headed up Apache Wash, then on Esplanade. Got some pictures of the owl nests, that was neat to see. Then saw a rattler sunning itself alongside the trail. My reaction when I noticed it was less than composed, I shot sideways several feet, but at least no squealing. Returned on Cliff Walk, where we saw a large rattler on the trail, and then Badger Brawl back to the trailhead. Saw lots of bikers, no other hikers. Pleasant day, especially with the great weather.
