I had three options for today: A-chaperone my daughter's 1st grade field trip, B-help out at my son's preschool Bike Safety Day, or C-go hiking. Ha! Since I don't really like other peoples' kids, A & B were never really options for me. I sent my husband on the field trip, told him not to forget about the preschooler, and told Van that we could do Robbers Roost since we had been talking about it a few weeks ago.

We parked at the Lost Goldmine trailhead, and got started at 9:00. Great weather with the clouds and breeze, but a bit muggy when the breeze stopped at times. Headed up Carney Springs, and saw a bighorn sheep just below the first saddle. We took a bunch of pics and kept going. Once we got around that saddle, we could see the bighorn again, so took a few more pics. Headed up and over to the Roost, which was my first time there, and I really liked it. We hung out there for a while, had a snack, then headed down to Fremont and over to the Cave trail. Just after Fremont, I took over the lead after promising twice that I would not get us lost.

The weather had warmed up between the Roost and Fremont, but cooled off again once on Cave. Looked at the cave for a few minutes, then kept going. Explored a little bit on the way down since the weather was so nice. At one point, when there appeared to be multiple trail options, I had pointed to my left and said to Van, "I feel like it's this way." After a moment, I said "I guess you don't want to be making trail decisions based off a feeling, that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. It really is this way, I've done it plenty of times." Got to Bluff Springs, then down to the trailhead and walked the road over to the car. Really fun day, and perfect weather. Seeing the bighorn was a bonus too!
