This was the plan for the 2016 Perseides Meteor Shower. Moon setting at 12:57am, game plan was to get to where we wanted to be, set up, fire going and ready to view around 1am.

Came in and night kayak'ed over to camp spot Chumley identified... although Carlos our trip leader had another spot in mind which was on the north banks. The water level was down 30 to 50 feet and he could not recognize and estimated the north spot "washed away". Seeing other boats banked on the south side, we pulled off and hiked up and low and behold was Chumley beach.

The night could not have been more perfect. We came in probably a few hours after monsoon rains. Temps at launch were in the mid 50's Are you kidding me? No. Partly cloudy, by the time we got to camp, set up and ribs cookin in the fire, there were no clouds. Once the moon set, the stars brightened up and meteors kept coming. Four or five really good ones with long tails. Too tired an exhausted after 90 minutes and crashed and burned.

What a great area. The north shore camp area, after having a chance to scout seems much more enticing for a future return. Carlos mentioned that with higher water levels, is a popular area for cliff jumping. Will be returning here again for sure.
