| no partners | | first official day of retirement after a busy three days at the office. So I went for a double. I did an 8:30 AM Strength class (first time I've done a workout class that early in many years; I prefer 9:45AM). Anyway, my body adjusted okay to this but it's an easier class. As some know, I really workout to hike.
And since the afternoon temps are reasonable for a couple days, I opted for quick loop counter-clockwise around Lookout. I never encountered one hiker BUT I did see a lizard. There was a nice breeze as I hiked south which seems to be the norm lately. The air in the far distance seemed smazy all the way around. 82.3 degrees at 3:52PM 15% humidity, nice breeze. Watch 52:45, 2.44 miles, 2.7 avg mph
I was curious how my hiking health stats compared to my workout class. I always seem to burn more calories hiking via my Strength classes, I think mostly because my heart rate is higher longer.
Strength Class 51:24, 270 calories, (9 min at Zone 5, 21 min at Zone 4) 126 avg bpm, max 172 bpm
Hike today 52:45, 379 calories, (22 min at Zone 5, 24 min at Zone 4) 125 avg bpm, max 175 bpm |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
