Schools suddenly got cancelled, so my daughter and I were suddenly off for the day. I told her one of my favorite places for good views on South Mountain is the western part of National; it just takes some climbing to get up there! Lots of the grey and brown cloud today with an inversion, but everything else was great. Lots of jet trails in the sky; one set of them made a triangle, so we pretended that she was in geometry today and her teacher was talking about the hypotenuse or some such thing. Starting to be some cactus in bloom. We did Lost Ranch Ruins going up, then east on National, and down on Lost Ranch Mine. Great morning; little did we know that it would end up being a long vacation from school, and that weekday hikes could become a normal thing!
