| no partners | | Back to the Goldfields a week after the first rain/hail visit. It's amazing in there! What was also amazing on this trip was the unexpected mud that my son and daughter got to experience. On the rain trip the previous week, it had rained for three days in a row, but the trail (road) had almost no mud. This time, it had rained less a day or two before, and we got to slop through plenty of it. Famous hike-leader words: "I didn't think it would be like this. See, last week ..." But anyway, back to the amazing views, especially in the last part. We were thinking how awesome it would be to camp at the spot of the last photo, if only there were anything there but solid rock --just to see the sunset and sunrise there. The Goldfields are kind of funny, after hiking in places like the McDowells and now Skyline Regional -- there aren't trail signs everywhere in the Goldfields. There's just a small side trail branching off, and you think "Yeah, that should be Willow Connector" or something like that. Makes it more like a wilderness experience! |
