| no partners | | I wanted to get out and explore Skyline since reading the triplogs about it, and I'm glad I read the recommendations for Pyrite. Started about 6:15, so I got to see the sun slowly lighting up the ridges all around. Pyrite was great; nice views, and plenty of climbing but not too steep. There was a breeze from the southwest, so the views in the Buckeye area were clear for a long ways, and the pollution was pooled up in the Valley. After coming down from Pyrite Summit, I followed various trails to get over to Valley Vista, which also had great views all around. Thought about adding Crest, but it was starting to get warm (and I've had sadly few hikes with much distance since last summer) so I just finished on Mountain Wash. Pleasant desert scenery on all the trails, but the two ridges -- Pyrite and Valley Vista -- were my favorite. |
