| no partners | | I decided to make another hike up to Mount Ord today.
There were some nice wildflowers on the lower half of FR 27. Flowers on this hike should be better over the coming weeks.
There has been some road improvement done on FR 27 since I last did this hike. A washout has been repaired, and some work has been done on Jaws. An ATV could make the drive on the entirety of the road at this time. I would not try to drive it in a stock 4WD vehicle, although perhaps it could be done. I would think that a properly modified 4WD vehicle with a good driver could make the drive at this time.
Wildflowers along Highway 87 on the drive back were really nice. I think that the globemallow alongside the road is the best globemallow that I have ever seen. Lupine, desert marigold, and brittlebush are also nice right now. |

Wildflowers Observation Light There were some nice sections of wildflowers on the lower half of FR 27. Several varieties of flowers were well represented, but Western Wallflower was the "flower of the day"! |
