| no partners | | I did not have a whole lot of time today, so I decided to stretch my legs close to home. I went from the Adero Canyon TH in the Fountain Hills Preserve to the Dixie Mine Trail in the McDowell Mountain Regional Park, and then reversed course. On the way back I went on the Western Loop Trail up to Peak 3098, aka the West View Overlook. It is better to go the other way on the Western Loop Trail so as to have some nice views of the Mazzies on the way back down.
On the way back, just before getting back to the Promenade Trail, a snake crossed the trail in front of me. I think that it was a patched nose snake, but I am not certain. In any event, it was a colubridae instead of a viperidae!
It was a nice day to be out -- the temps were in the upper 70's with lots of cloud cover. It would have been a great day to do a longer hike, but I didn't have time for it today. |

Wildflowers Observation Moderate Brittlebush was plentiful today; everything else was spotty. |
